Customizing Field Labels

Prev Next

Overview

Sales progression is one of the core types of information captured in the Integrous Analytics system, enabling reporting on funnel milestones such as lead routed/working, opportunity/pipeline creation, and win (more info). These milestones are tracked using date and owner fields.

Our system uses generic sales stage names by default; however, some customers prefer to use their internal terminology.

For example, you might prefer:

Default Label

Custom Label Examples

Stage 1 Date

Activation Date

Stage 2 Date

MQL Date

Stage 3 Date

SAL Date

While these can’t be edited directly, you can override them using Salesforce’s Translation Workbench.

This allows you to customize how field names appear on records and in reporting (e.g., change Stage 2 Date to MQL Date), though it does not change the underlying field API names.

Note: This is an optional customization and does not affect how the system processes data or tracks sales stages. It only changes how field names appear to users.

Why This Matters

Customizing field labels helps ensure your Integrous Analytics system reflects the terminology your team already uses. This improves clarity for users, reduces onboarding friction, and promotes stronger adoption.

Prerequisite: Enable Translation Workbench

Before customizing labels, you need to enable Translation Workbench in your org.

To enable Translation Workbench:

  1. Go to Setup

  2. In the Quick Find box, enter Translation Language Settings

  3. Select Translation Language Settings

  4. Click Enable

  5. Make sure English is active

  6. Make sure a Translation User is assigned

    1. This is the user who has permission to manage translations for each active language

    2. You can do this from the Translation Language Settings page in Setup

Translation Workbench interface showing supported languages and active status for English.

Common Stage-Related Fields to Customize

There are 48 stage-related fields that customers often want to customize (12 fields on 4 objects):

The 12 Stage-related fields:

  • Stage 1 Date

  • Stage 1 Owner

  • Stage 2 Date

  • Stage 2 Owner

  • Stage 3 Date

  • Stage 3 Owner

  • Stage 4 Date

  • Stage 4 Owner

  • Stage 5 Date

  • Stage 5 Owner

  • Stage 6 Date

  • Stage 6 Owner

All 12 fields are on the following objects:

  • Leads

  • Contacts

  • Opportunities

  • Engagements

❗ If any of these fields are customized, we strongly recommend customizing them on all four objects in parallel to ensure reporting consistency and avoid confusion.

For more info about these stages and how to configure them, see the Sales Progression Measurement and Sales Stage Configuration articles.

  1. After saving your Engagement label changes, repeat the process for the same fields on Leads, Contacts, and Opportunities to ensure consistency across the system

Notes:

  • Overrides may take some time to apply. If translated labels are not displaying as expected, try clearing your browser cache to ensure the latest updates are reflected

  • Admins can set up translation overrides for other languages as well

  • Setting up translation overrides applies to all users who have English selected as their language
